Ever since Pixar Animation Studios was founded, the company has consistently put out a series of beloved movies and short films. While almost all of Pixar's films are great, some of them are so great that they are considered to be the best Pixar movies of all time.

Thanks in part to Monster, Inc.'s compelling plot and incredible visuals, it has always been considered to be one of Pixar's best films. On top of that, Monsters, Inc.'s main characters have always been beloved by fans since the film's release.

Even though Sulley and Mike Wazowski have always been Monsters, Inc.'s most talked about characters, it could easily be argued that another one is the heart of the movie. After all, it is Sulley's love for Boo that a love of viewers can really relate to. Unsurprisingly, there are several fascinating facts about the making of Monsters, Inc. including who was hired to voice Boo. While that is interesting enough, the really amazing thing about the person who voiced Boo is what has happened to her since starring in the movie.

Who Voiced Boo From Monsters, Inc.?

In the year 2020, the Hollywood veteran Rob Gibbs passed away at only 55 years old. While it was tragic to learn of Rob's passing, especially at such a young age, those who loved him could at least rest assured that he truly made his mark on society.

A long-time storyboard artist and director, Rob worked on a myriad of projects that were released by Disney and Pixar. During the making of Monsters, Inc., Rob helped out by having his daughter provide scratch dialogue for the character Boo.

When Mary Gibbs recorded her dialogue for Monsters, Inc., the people behind the movie initially planned to potentially replace her performance with another actor's voice. However, Mary's voice was so perfect for Boo that the decision was made to keep her performance.

On top of knowing that Mary was cast as Boo because of who her father was, it is fascinating to know how her voice was captured.

Since Mary was so young when she recorded her performance as Boo, she didn't have the attention span to sit for hours and read her lines. Instead, Mary was followed around with a microphone and producers even used puppets, tickles, money, and candy to get her to say what they needed.

As for Boo's memorable scream, they were able to get that recording because of an accident.

In an attempt to make Mary happy during the recording process, her mom threw her in the air and caught her. Unfortunately, things went awry when Mary's mom tried to catch her as the matriarch's nail dug into her daughter's gums.

As a result of the pain Mary felt due to that accident, she let out the scream that was recorded and became a part of cinematic history.

What Happened To Mary Gibbs After Monsters Inc?

When Monsters Inc was released in 2001, it didn't take long for it to become a huge hit for Pixar. With that in mind, it makes perfect sense that several other projects have been spawned from it including the sequel Monsters University which gets a lot of things right about college.

On top of Monsters Inc clearly making its mark on fans, Mary Gibb's performance as Boo clearly was very memorable for the people who work at Pixar. After all, archival recordings of Mary's performance have been used in other projects.

In most cases, Mary's dialogue was used in Monsters Inc spin-off projects. However, Pixar fans may be shocked to learn that archival recordings of Mary were used in the movie Inside Out to voice Riley when she was younger.

After Mary finished working on Monsters Inc, she never worked as an actor on a mainstream project again. However, that doesn't mean that Mary has any resentment for Hollywood or that she has tried to distance herself from her past portrayal of Boo.

First off, one of the ways that Mary still embraces her Pixar past is that she has appeared at several conventions in the past. At those events, fans have gotten the chance to have her photo taken with her.

More notably, Mary has embraced social media to a certain degree. While Mary's Instagram account is set to private as of this writing, she currently has almost 8,000 followers so clearly she is open to fans.

On top of that, Mary also briefly ran a YouTube channel called "Boo Grown Up". While there are only seven videos on that channel, she answered a slew of fan questions, addressed the Pixar theory, and talked about her own health.

Aside from her relationship with fans and her Pixar past, Mary has also found her own place in the world. Based on Mary's career choices, it is clear that she has a true passion for staying fit and helping others to be healthy as well.

Unfortunately for Mary, she has had to deal with some health problems in the past. As she revealed in one of her YouTube videos, Mary has had to deal with scoliosis and she had to undergo ten vertebrae spinal fusion in 2012.

Despite those struggles, in the year 2016, Entertainment Weekly reported that by then Mary was already working as a yoga instructor. Four years later, the Daily Mail reported on Mary becoming a 24-year-old bodybuilder and they included photos of her workouts.

On top of her love for yoga and weight lifting, Mary lists herself as a "Holistic Health Practitioner" on her Instagram profile.

Given that Mary is only in her mid-20s as of this writing and she has already embraced several different ways to stay healthy, it seems very clear she will continue to learn more in the years to come.

Most importantly, everything that is known about Mary indicates that she seems to be a well-adjusted young woman despite her early brush with fame.
